PHNOM PENH: The King of Cambodia, His Majesty King Norodom Sihamoni, has promoted future Prime Ministerial candidate, Hun Manet, to the highest army rank of a 4-Star General. The King’s order came just one day after his return to Cambodia.

In a Royal Decree dated 17 March 2023, His Majesty King Norodom Sihamoni ordered the promotion of Hun Manet from 3-Star Lieutenant General to 4-Star General, the highest rank in the army.

Hun Manet, 44, is the eldest son of Prime Minister Hun Sen. He was the first Cambodian to graduate from West Point Military Academy in the United States and holds a Doctorate of Economics from the University of Bristol. Prior to the promotion, Hun Manet served as a 3-Star Lieutenant General, the Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces and Commander-in-Chief of the army.

Hun Manet has been increasingly known on the international stage for his leadership in establishing military cooperation deals with other countries, and strengthening relations between Cambodia and the world.
